Drinking my morning coffee

As I am sitting here drinking my morning coffee, waiting for the sun to come up, I've been thinking on a lot of things lately and can't really decide which to talk about. I still think our president isn't up to the task of running our country. His decision, finally, to help with Lybia was long overdue. Like three weeks overdue! I have been dealing with my Fathers finances of late and am just overwhelmed with the fact he has to have this kind of insurance and then that kind of insurance. I wondering if we're not getting insured to death. Insurance for your health, drugs, home, auto, etc.......Then, there's the bills for water, gas and electric. Ugh! This doesn't include the nursing home bill and doctors bills. I have got a 45 minute drive to work one way. I pay $3.59/gal. of gas currently. My car gets 25 miles/gal. Not bad for an eleven year old car that has 213 plus thousand miles on it.Tune ups and oil changes do make a difference when done on a routine basis. The company I work for is a Japanese based company. I hope that we do not have much down time due to their ongoing disaster issue. I work nights and have been missing Wednesday night services at our church and a lot of the times don't make it to Sunday morning service, as well. I am spiritually drained. At some point, I need to clean house, which my wonderful husband and boys have been graciously trying to help with, since I took this job. My chicken's coop needs mending. We still need fire wood for heat. It's still in the 40's here. I could list a bunch more, but really don't want to. I know in my heart that I have a Savior who I can lean on and who will pull me through. I can put my burdens on Him and he will carry them. My faith is my rock and that rock is Jesus. I certainly miss my brothers and sisters in Christ, but know they are saying prayers for me. I am lucky in respects that both my sons are baptized believers and do their part in upholding the faith. I am very proud of them both. Their service to the church is well received. I am blessed by the Lord in that they are strong. This gives me strength in turn to keep up the fight. And hopefully be heading to Sunday morning church services on a more regular basis. I must say, the more I think on it the more all the issues and stress of today seem to flow away when I have my faith.

Increasingly Difficult

I find myself more and more each day asking the question.......where is our president when crises calls. So many times he has either delayed action or flip-flopped on an issue. ie Egypt. I wonder where was he when Japan's disaster was taking shape? Where was he when the students in Iran asked for backing in 2009? Why did it take so long to answer the call of fellow allies in the case of Lybia. The list goes on and on in the international arena. What about domestic issues? Where is our president when we are still facing problems at home? Why should we be paying almost $4.00/gal of gas? Where is he when inflation is starting to take root? Where is he when we still have an unemployment issue? Oh, I know a couple of these questions! He's been playing golf or on a vacation with his family. Wait! How many of you have gotten to go play a round of golf, lately? (those of you who play) Or, better yet, taken a real vacation with your family? Can you even afford a vacation right now? When was the last time you went on a vacation? How about being able to afford the gas to go on vacation? Or being able to afford groceries? I find it more and more difficult to say that Obama is my president. I don't really think he's one at all.

A Challenge

Had a thought at work tonight......I would like to challenge some of you. This isn't something that is silly or funny. It is serious. I would like for you to not watch or listen to the news for one week. Then, after that week is up, start watching and listening to the news, again. Keep in mind, this is spring and there will be storms coming, so please, don't stop listening to weather reports. Then, consider after that week, what and how you feel about what you hear and see in the news.

Devastation in Japan

It has been an horrific week for the people of Japan. I am praying that there is minimal loss of life there and that they can come back from this in relative good fashion. I would like to know how much support our president has pledged? I have not heard him come out and say anything, but keep in mind I don't keep up with daily news reporting. Especially, the big 3 media outlets. I happen to think this is a great humanitarian effort that will have to go on to help them out. Between them, Britain and Australia....who else are our biggest allies? As Christians a time to help has come. With 1% of the total population of Japan professing Christianity....what a time to show our charity. Again, my prayers go to the people of that country.

Rhetoric on taxes

Really getting tired of the liberals telling us we won't have this program or that program if we cut this or that. How important is NPR or PBS? Most of us pay to watch t.v. anyway. Why should my tax dollars go to news programming that is clearly one sided. (Don't forget there was a pbs host who wrote a book about our current president and then moderated a debate after it was published for sale). I had to buy a converter box so I could watch my t.v. Then, we upgraded our t.v. and went with satellite. (we can't get cable where I live). I don't have a satellite bill handy to look at, but I am certain as with my cell phone bill, that we pay certain taxes on it. Excise tax is one that comes to mind. I could be wrong on this. But none the less we still have to pay to watch or in some cases listen to our news and programming. I just can't imagine why we have to keep paying into something and don't get a return on it. I don't want to see our military spending cut. Our troops deal with a lot less the way it is. I just don't think we should be funding pet projects and lining pockets of politicians anymore.

Fallen Soldiers

The right to protest here in the US is one of our fundamental rights. We have the right to assemble and supposedly have free speech (depending on if you are liberal or not). What gives someone the right, though, to disturb someones peace and mourning? Apparently, there is a group of radicals who call themselves Christians, that are showing up to our fallen soldier's funerals. These so called are disrupting the funerals with their protests. For one it is disrespectful to that soldiers family. To the point of being hateful. No where do you have the right to disturb the peace. This is a human life being laid to rest. That person died so you could protest. I ask, what do you know of these soldiers lives.....how do you know they were sinful? Can you look into their heart, like God, and determine that that individual was evil or gay or whatever it is that you are accusing Americans of? Why do you continue to use your freedom to stir up hate? Why not aim your protest at the front lawn of the capital? On senators home towns? Representatives streets? You have chosen to be the condemner of these young people. Be ware that you will not be judged as harshly.

Current state of things

Being Christian, I have a fear that our current president is not on our side. Either as a Christian or as a country. I feel his policies and his personal choices have been a strong indicator for this. I am "hoping" for "change" in 2012. It's time that we the people (the majority) took it back. We should stop depending on the 1% making the decisions for the the rest of us. I hope our future isn't as dim after 2 years from now.
